Sonogram updates and pictures

24 weeks - February 12, 2008

Everything looks normal and Brady weighs 1 lb 9 oz (which is right on schedule). Unfortunately, nothing has changed on the low-lying placenta or his swollen kidneys. The doctor said it is good that it is staying the same and not getting worse, but I will have another sonogram on April 11th to see if it's getting better. No worries though, she said neither my nor Brady's health is jeopardized, I just might have to have a c-section is all. The best part of the whole thing was feeling him kicking and seeing on the screen at the same time.

20 weeks - January 15, 2008

We had our sonogram yesterday and our little munchkin is still a boy. Actually, they said “that is DEFINATLEY a boy!” So, it sounds like there is no doubt about it. They also found a couple of things that they are going to continue to watch, but are not a huge concern right now. 1) I have a low-lying placenta – which they said will probably move upwards as my uterus grows. The doctor wasn’t worried about it at all and said they will just keep watching it and that it should get better on its own. 2) the babies kidneys are slightly enlarged. She said they see this a lot in baby boys and that it should get better on its own – again she said we shouldn’t worry about it. I will go back in 4 weeks to have another ultrasound to see if both things are getting better.Other than that, everything looked good! I am starting to feel him kick just a little bit. In the next couple of weeks I should start to feel him more regularly, we can't wait for that!!!  The sonogram picture mainly shows his head and belly.

This appointment was called an "NT UltraScreen". It is where they measure the skinfold on the back of the baby's neck and that in combination with a blood test tells you the risk of Down's Syndrome and other chromosomal defects. You'll be happy to know Baby Jones is perfectly normal and our chances of chromosomal defects are very, very, very low! But, the best part of this visit was they told us it was a BOY!!! We are so excited!  The sonogram picture is a perfect profile shot!
